Howard Lau

Chairman of the Board

Mr. Howard Lau is a Managing Director at East Gate Capital Management, LLC. He specializes in the business software sector and has extensive experience in both the investment and operational aspects of the sector. Mr. Lau is also the Founder and CEO of CareMavens, Inc. Previously, Mr. Lau was head of SAP Ventures, where he invested in 30 companies that returned over four times the capital invested. He was also Executive Vice President at SAP Labs Palo Alto, where he managed SAP’s development operations in Silicon Valley. Prior to that, he worked at Sun Microsystems, Oracle, and Andersen Consulting in different consulting and management positions. Mr. Lau was a Director of Emdigo Inc. since April 24, 2006. Mr. Lau has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.

Richard Marshall

Mr. Richard Marshall is a globally recognized security and policy thought leader. He has addressed audiences in England, Germany, Moldovia, India, Thailand, China and Switzerland. He is the Founder and Presideint of X-SES Consultants, LLC., and the former Vice President of Cyber Programs at Triton FSI. He has served key leadership roles in protecting public and national security interests and serving many US administrations and presidents in critical leadership positions.  Mr. Marshall previously was a member of the Senior Cryptologic Executive Service (SCES) and the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service (DISES). He was the Director of Global Cyber Security Management, National Cyber Security Division, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). He directed the National Cyber Security Education Strategy; and the Software Assurance; Research and Standards Integration; and Supply Chain Risk Management programs. He was previously the Senior Information Assurance (IA) Representative, Office of Legislative Affairs at the National Security Agency (NSA) where he served as the Agency’s point of contact for all NSA Information Security (INFOSEC) matters concerning Congress. He devised the IA legislative strategy, helped shape the passage of the revised Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and was a key contributor to the Bush and Obama administration’s Comprehensive National Cyber Security Initiative (CNCI).  Mr. Marshall graduated from The Citadel with a B.A. in Political Science; Creighton University School of Law with a J.D. in Jurisprudence; Georgetown School of Law with an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law; was a Fellow at the National Security Law Institute, University of Virginia School of Law in National Security Law; attended the Harvard School of Law Summer Program for Lawyers; the Georgetown University Government Affairs Institute on Advanced Legislative Strategies and participated in the Information Society Project at Yale Law School. He currently serves as a Board Member or Special Advisor to the following entities: Attensity; Sierra Vista Group; JouleX; Mobile Active Defense; International Cyber Security Advisory Dialogue Board; INVNT/IP Global Consortium; MyStateUSA; Axon Global Services; Auroros; AirPatrol; the National Maritime Law Institut and Advisor to Zofia Consulting, LLC..

Kirsten Bay

Kirsten Bay serves as President and Chief Executive Officer for Attensity. Kirsten is a recognized thought leader in business process integration and turn-around initiatives, and brings 18 years of strategic process and organizational policy experience from the consumer product, finance, and information management industries. Prior to Attensity, Kirsten developed econometric policy models for information protection and national security programs as an advisor to the government and enterprise, and served as Vice President of Commercial Business at iSIGHT Partners, where she developed programs designed to enable the private sector to integrate cyber threat intelligence into their risk management, financial forecasting, and business decision programs. Kirsten came to data economics and analytics from the financial services sector where she managed $750 million in wealth management trust banking portfolios. She holds a BA in English and German from the University of Oregon.

Niall Davis

Partner, aeris capital AG

Niall brings over 20 years of experience as an operational executive and venture capitalist to the Board. Since 2006, Niall is one of ten founding partners of Swiss aeris CAPITAL AG, a large global private equity firm. He splits his time between the direct investment team and the private equity fund investment team. He is also an advisor to Portalium Ventures Fund I (Israel). Prior to aeris, Niall was with First Ventury, one of Germany’s leading Venture Capital firms, where he focused on open source, enterprise software, security, Internet applications, IT in healthcare, IT infrastructure, compilers, operating systems, wireless communication, and home entertainment systems.

Niall was previously CTO of Astarte New Media AG. He also has extensive experience as a technical director and software developer. Niall holds a BA Business Systems from London Metropolitan University, London.. He also completed the EVCA Institute Private Equity Management Training.
