  • Ian Bonner

    Chief Executive Officer

    Ian serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for Attensity Group. In a career spanning over 27 years, Ian has built a strong reputation for driving corporate value and operational growth. After founding and ultimately selling many technology companies, Ian led the independent channel infrastructure and organization for IBM. Over the next 11 years, Ian became IBM’s most visible promoter of software partner initiatives in his roles as Vice President and then General Manager of Partner Programs overseeing channel revenue growth from $200 million to over $3 billion. He was also appointed to the IBM Senior Management Group in 1998. Since leaving IBM in 2001, he has been CEO of such high growth companies as Terraspring Software (acquired by Sun Microsystems), Sistina Software(acquired by Redhat Software), Xerox PARC spin-off Inxight Software (which became a wholly owned subsidiary of Business Objects in 2007 and now owned by SAP), and most recently, serving as ColdSpark’s CEO bringing significant industry and management expertise to this provider of enterprise solutions and platforms of email processing and delivery.

    Ian holds both a Bachelor of Commerce and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management from the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa) and he is a graduate of the IBM Executive Management Program at the Indiana Graduate School of Business.
  • Ian Hersey

    Global Chief Technology Officer and EVP, Products

    In his role as Attensity Group’s global CTO and head of products, Ian brings more than 20 years of experience delivering innovative research technology into the commercial mainstream. Ian is responsible for providing the technical and strategic product vision to complement the company’s business vision, setting the tone and direction for Attensity’s Group technologies and business applications and driving Attensity’s global engineering organization. Prior to Attensity Group, Ian was vice president of technology development and strategy at Business Objects, an SAP company. He came to Business Objects through its acquisition of Inxight Software. As co-founder of Inxight, Ian led the definition and development of what became the industry's broadest text analysis platform; he also held senior product management and engineering management roles at Logos Corporation and Inso Corporation. Ian began his commercial career at IBM as a computational linguist.

    Ian received his bachelor's degree from Rice University, with graduate study at University of California, Berkeley, and at universities in Ghent and Leuven, Belgium. Ian is fluent in German, and he is an avid Ironman and competing member of the Team Sheeper triathlon team.
  • Ronald F.E. Weissman, Ph.D.

    Ronald Weissman has more than twenty-five years of technology management and high-tech marketing experience. He has worked with more than forty venture backed companies and has served on twenty technology company boards. Most recently a partner at Apax Partners, Weissman is currently managing existing investments in Apax's venture portfolio as Apax recently changed its focus from venture to global buyouts. He serves on the boards of Attensity, Centerbeam, Chiliad, Composite Software, Nanomix and Solid Information Technology. Weissman is a member of the Band of Angels and is an advisor to a number of early stage companies including Cataphora, Kalat and Modius and has served as advisor or board member to more than twenty-five other technology firms. As an investor, his emphasis is on enterprise and infrastructure software and services with a particular focus on applications of information retrieval and text analytics.

    Prior to Apax, he was VP of global marketing and corporate development for Verity, a leader in enterprise information retrieval. Weissman also spent more than five years at NeXT Computer, where he managed European and corporate marketing. A frequent conference speaker, he has published extensively on software trends and has been an advisor to many public and private organizations, including Apple, NeXT, Sun Microsystems, IBM and Microsoft as well as many departments of the U.S. government and was a co-author of the Academy of Public Administration/National Archives' study of the future of electronic recordkeeping in the federal government. Weissman received his BA, MA, and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and is a former Fulbright Scholar.
  • David Hartford

    Partner, aeris capital AG and Chairman of the Board

    David brings over 40 years of experience as a venture capitalist, international management consultant, attorney and software/systems engineer and manager to the Attensity board. Since 2006, David Hartford is one of ten founding partners of Swiss aeris CAPITAL AG, a large global private equity firm. He splits his time between the direct investment team and the private equity fund investment team and serves on the boards of directors of DecisionView, Livescribe, Inc., and Rotani, and is a board observer at Proximetry.

    David was elected four times to the board of the European Venture Capital Association, served one year on the board’s Executive Committee, and served as Chairman of evca’s Central and Eastern European Advisory Committee from 1995 – 2000. David Hartford received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and his B.Sc. degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He also completed the Advanced Executive Program “Competing in a Global Environment” at The Anderson School at UCLA. David is an Adjunct Professor in Entrepreneurship at the Haas Graduate School of Business at the University of California – Berkeley, and previously was an Adjunct Professor of Finance at California State University – East Bay, teaching New Venture Finance in CSU’s Hayward and Moscow programs.
  • Niall Davis

    Partner, aeris capital AG

    Niall brings over 20 years of experience as an operational executive and venture capitalist to the Board. Since 2006, Niall is one of ten founding partners of Swiss aeris CAPITAL AG, a large global private equity firm. He splits his time between the direct investment team and the private equity fund investment team. He is also an advisor to Portalium Ventures Fund I (Israel). Prior to aeris, Niall was with First Ventury, one of Germany's leading Venture Capital firms, where he focused on open source, enterprise software, security, Internet applications, IT in healthcare, IT infrastructure, compilers, operating systems, wireless communication, and home entertainment systems.

    Niall was previously CTO of Astarte New Media AG. He also has extensive experience as a technical director and software developer. Niall holds a BA Business Systems from London Metropolitan University, London.. He also completed the EVCA Institute Private Equity Management Training.

  • Jeff Hinck

    Jeff Hinck, a proven technology investor and former start-up company CEO, joined the Attensity Group board in 2010.  Jeff is at El Dorado Ventures as a General Partner. Jeff has been a venture capitalist since 1997.  Jeff's notable investments include Algety (acquired by Corvis for $2 billion), BroadSoft, Compellent (IPO:CML),  Geronimo Wind Energy (now majority owned by ENEL), iBeam (IPO), IPCell (acquired by Cisco), iTKO, NetCentrex (acquired by Comverse Technologies) and Sistina Software (acquired by RedHat). Jeff also served on the boards of Picolight (acquired by JDSU) and Endwave (IPO:ENVW).

    Jeff also served as CEO of Sistina Software, an infrastructure software company acquired by Red Hat, and was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Co. He was a John M. Olin Fellow in Law & Economics at Harvard Law School, Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy and taught Statistics at Harvard College.

    Jeff graduated with a bachelors degree in economics from Northwestern University and received his JD from Harvard Law School.
