Ian Bonner

CEO

Ian serves as President and Chief Executive Officer for Attensity Group.  In a career spanning over 28 years, Ian has built a strong reputation for driving corporate value and operational growth. After founding and ultimately selling many technology companies, Ian led the independent channel infrastructure and organization for IBM. Over the next 11 years, Ian became IBM’s most visible promoter of software partner initiatives in his roles as Vice President and then General Manager of Partner Programs, overseeing channel revenue growth from $200 million to over $3 billion. He was also appointed to the IBM Senior Management Group in 1998. Since leaving IBM in 2001, he has been CEO of such high-growth companies as Terraspring Software (acquired by Sun Microsystems), Sistina Software(acquired by Redhat Software), Xerox PARC spin-off Inxight Software (which became a wholly owned subsidiary of Business Objects in 2007 and is now owned by SAP), and most recently, ColdSpark, a leading provider of enterprise solutions and platforms of email processing and delivery.

Ian holds both a Bachelor of Commerce and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management from the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa) and he is a graduate of the IBM Executive Management Program at the Indiana Graduate School of Business.

Jeff Johnson Jeff Johnson

Vice President of Sales, The Americas

Jeff leads the company’s sales operations in The Americas and brings to Attensity over 20 years of sales and sales management experience in the software industry. In his role, Jeff is responsible for driving all sales initiatives, presales, channel development and directing Attensity’s growing sales force toward continued sales growth of the company’s expanding enterprise-class product portfolio. Jeff joined Attensity from Business Signatures, acquired by Entrust in 2006, a Silicon Valley start-up which pioneered business solutions that prevent online fraud and provide a reliable online customer experience. Prior, Jeff was VP of Sales at Tealeaf Technology and Luminate Corporation. At Luminate Jeff led worldwide sales and was also responsible for worldwide sales operations, professional services and field marketing. Prior to Luminate, Jeff was Vice President of Sales at Poet Software, and he has led sales teams at Lotus Development, Oracle and Wang Laboratories.

Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University.


David Bean, PhD

Chief Technology Officer, Semantic Technologies

In his role as CTO David is focused on the development of technologies that better manage and deliver superior natural language processing applications. David is the author/recipient of six patents and has over sixteen pending software patents. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the University of Utah's Linguistics Department, where he teaches applied computational linguistics. David is a sought-after guest lecturer to a wide range of commercial and academic groups. He is also passionate about lecturing at the elementary school level to introduce young minds to astronomy, physics and other cool science things. Prior to Attensity, David was an IS director and an independent consultant in the healthcare industry.

David’s education includes a BA in French and Arabic from the University of Utah, an MS in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Utah. His PhD work focused on natural language processing issues including partial parsing, thematic role assignment, automated extraction and anaphora resolution. He has additional interest and has done graduate study in medical informatics, embedded systems, databases and object oriented languages – as well as a healthy fascination with antique tractors.


Jim Perry

Vice President of Engineering, Attensity Americas

As Vice President of Engineering, Jim leads the design and development of Attensity’s award-winning products in the Americas. With 20 years experience in the software industry, Jim has previously led organizations at WordPerfect, Folio, TenFold, NextPage and most recently at Ancestry.com where he led several projects managing terabytes of unstructured genealogical and family history data for the world’s largest online subscription site. Jim also founded PerryPoint Venture Advisors and was named one of Utah’s top 100 venture entrepreneurs in 2005 by VSpring Capital. Jim has served on several boards, including for UTOPIA (Utah Telecommunication Open Infrastructure Agency),  ContentWatch, and the Lone Peak Public Safety District.

Jim graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University in Computer Science. He is active in local government and has twice been elected to the City Council for the City of Cedar Hills. Jim enjoys dabbling in digital video production, bonsai trees, and motorcycling as well as spending time with his family.

Catherine H. van Zuylen

Vice President of Product Marketing, Attensity Americas

Catherine brings more than 15 years of experience thriving on the passion and intensity of technology startups and rollups. Prior to Attensity, Catherine was VP of Marketing for the Block Shield family of companies, where she defined and implemented new positioning, product, and branding strategies in support of company restructuring and acquisition of technology assets. Previously, Catherine was Director of Marketing at Business Objects, an SAP company. She came to Business Objects through its acquisition of Inxight Software, where she led product management and assisted in the repositioning of the company as “going beyond Google”. Catherine has also held product management and marketing roles at a variety of technology companies, including Butterfly Security, Kovair (CRM), iSyndicate (internet media), and Metcal (electronics manufacturing).

Catherine holds an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley and a BA in English from the Johnston Center at the University of Redlands. She is a true California native who enjoys working hard, but also enjoys playing hard in trail, surf, and snow.

James Purchase

Director of Sales Engineering, Attensity Americas

James has a strong consulting background in Data Warehousing and Computational Linguistics. Prior to Attensity, James progressed through the ranks of Sagent’s (Data Ware- housing Software) Professional Services and was the recipient of multiple awards, including President’s Club. Over the course of his career, James has designed, implemented and led numerous large data warehouse projects and a number of commercial English Language profiling projects at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His work culminated in several prestigious publications and the development of Computer Assisted Language Learning software. 
 
James holds an M.S. in Information Systems from the University of Liverpool (UK) and BA (Hons) Business Administration, Birmingham University (UK).

Eric Weight

Director of Professional Services and On-Demand, The Americas

Before joining Attensity, Eric was a Senior Product Line Manager at Novell where he led a strategic initiative to launch a specialized small business version of NetWare. Previously, he served as a consulting leader with Deloitte & Touche Management Consulting on directing projects for clients including Owens-Corning, R.L. Polk, and Morrison Knudson. Eric also has an entrepreneurial pedigree, including his role as managing partner of high-tech marketing and advertising agency Blain Olsen White Gurr, where he developed and led the agency’s Web Marketing Services Group and his role as founder of Lab 6two4, the B/O/W/G web usability-testing lab. Eric developed and lead the strategic planning efforts of several B/O/W/G clients, including Novell, 3Com, Samsung, Hyundai, Micron, Infineon, iBahn, and The Burton Group. His career began at document management company SoftSolutions, where he was responsible for the design and development of all software products.
 
Eric holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Brigham Young University, and an MBA in Marketing from Indiana University.
