Attensity Awarded Five New Patents for Core Analytics and Text Exploration Capabilities
Patented Technology Facilitates Comprehensive Business Intelligence and More Accurate Analysis of Text-Based Data
Mountain View, Calif. - June 2, 2004 -- Attensity, an emerging leader in data analysis software, today announced it has been issued five U.S. patents (U.S. Patent Nos. 6,728,707; 6,732,097; 6,738,765; 6,741,988; and 7,732,098) for "relational text index creation and searching," which plays a key role across Attensity's line of information analysis solutions.
Attensity's software enables commercial enterprises and government organizations to automatically extract valuable information from free-form text and combine it with structured data, enabling them to respond to critical threats and opportunities that historically have been difficult to discover and analyze. Unlike most data analytics products, which ignore unstructured data or use statistical approaches to analyzing text and yield only a narrow or inaccurate understanding of the information, Attensity's solutions actually grasp the nuances, relationships and context of everyday language. As a result, the company's technology delivers a much richer, and far more accurate picture of the facts described in text-based information.
The five patents ensure that Attensity's solutions will continue to be unique by protecting the processes and techniques necessary for exhaustively mining facts from textual data sources and combining them with structured data for analysis in a hybrid business intelligence environment. The patents cover the automatic creation of exhaustive indexes of the entities, roles and relationships explicitly described in any set of text-based data, as well as the subsequent querying of that database. This enables organizations using Attensity's software to understand and act upon all of the available factual information, not just what is captured in coded and structured data fields.
"It's quite an accomplishment for an organization to be awarded so many patents at this stage in its development," said Todd Wakefield, co-founder and chief strategist of Attensity. "Many vendors claim their technology is unique, but in our case we have the growing patent portfolio to prove it - a fact that has not gone unnoticed by customers. We recently have seen an enormous increase in interest from commercial and government organizations for all of our products."
In addition to these five patents, Attensity has 20 patents pending.
