Attensity Named Company Most Likely to Succeed at Silicon Valley Venture Capital Event
Audience Selects Attensity Based on Strength of Business Applications, Unmatched Ability to Help Organizations Turn Unstructured Data into Actionable Information

Palo Alto, Calif. - August 13, 2004 -- Attensity, an innovator in unstructured data applications, today announced it was selected as the company most likely to succeed at IBD Network's August 10, 2004 Under the Radar event, "Enterprise Search - The Next Frontier." Designed to showcase outstanding innovation, IBD Network events offer companies a unique opportunity to go head-to-head as they present their technology and business model to a distinguished panel of judges and an audience of senior executives and venture capitalists.

IBD Network's August 10 event focused on the enterprise search market, highlighting how effective navigation of large volumes of structured and unstructured information can enable organizations to improve productivity and increase revenue. Attensity was one of four companies selected to present, with representatives from JPMorgan Partners, Apax Partners and OVP Venture Partners serving as judges.

Each company was allowed to give a brief presentation, which was immediately followed by a question and answer session led by the judges. At the conclusion of all presentations, judges and attendees were asked to vote on which company they think is most likely to succeed based on market need, technology and business model. Attensity was the overwhelming favorite of the audience.

"Enterprise search is one of the hottest topics around, but it's only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to helping businesses take advantage of their data. Attensity's patented software goes beyond this baseline function and brings together structured data and unstructured content in a manner that allows organizations to identify and respond to important issues or events that traditionally have been nearly impossible to detect or analyze. It was this unique capability that really made us stand out to the IBD Network audience," said Todd Wakefield, co-founder and chief strategist at Attensity.

The culmination of extensive research in computational linguistics, Attensity's patented software takes unstructured data, extracts critical information from it and then combines it with structured information. This enables organizations to respond quickly to critical issues and events based on knowledge gleaned from all of their highest value information, not just the portion of it that happens to be structured or numerical.

Moreover, unlike other solutions, which typically use a statistical approach to analyzing text and only provide a narrow and often inaccurate understanding of the information, Attensity's software actually grasps the nuances, relationships and context of everyday language. By analyzing the structure of the text and the relationships between words and entities, the company's technology delivers a much richer, and far more accurate picture of the data.
